Today I photographed The People’s Convoy as it traveled the last few miles through Indiana. The convoy was one hour long stretching from Indianapolis to the Ohio border over 60 miles. I will share a story with you about the flag on the lead truck, the first image in this gallery.
The driver of the lead truck was approached in Missouri by a family of a WWII veteran. They proceeded to tell the driver the story of their veteran being a tanker driver during WWII who was killed in the war. The family gave the driver the flag you see in the center of the flatbed. This just happened to be the flag that was draped over the veteran’s casket when he returned home in the 1940s. This flag has been displayed in a triangle case for over 70 years. His family felt like it should fly again. Their only request was that the flag be returned to them regardless of what shape it was in after the journey. What an honor for this driver. My comment, The people are tired.
