The Werff Report

After an emergency petition filed by the State’s Attorney General, a federal judge in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals is allowing Tennessee's trigger law on abortion to take effect immediately. The trigger law originally has a 30-Day "waiting period" upon the overturning of Roe V Wade, however, the AG's action sought to bypass that. Under the law, it is a Class C felony for physicians or anyone else to perform an abortion, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. In Louisiana, however, Democratic Judge Robin Giarrusso has blocked the state's trigger law. A hearing will be held on July 8th to determine whether the law will continue to be blocked.
